Couple days ago one of my friend asked me about enable or disable regedit on his windows. Unfortunately he can not edit windows registry by using windows default registry editor. He was logged in to his operating system with administrative privilege but still he can not work with it. he failed to access the windows registry using windows default registry editor which is regedit.
There is a possibility that some maleware cause this problem and holding him to access registry to protect it's own removal.
Anyway to eanble or disable regedit you can use windows group policy editor tool. The steps are as follows:
1. Login to your windows as an administrator. If xp then go to Start > Run or for vista then click on start and then type gpedit.msc and hit enter.
2. Now Group Policy Editor will open. Then navigate User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System.
3. Then look for and double click to Prevent access to registry editing tools and select either disabled or not configured and click ok.
4. Then exit Group Policy Editor and restart your windows.
If you do not have Group Policy Editor in your windows then please bought any good anti maleware software and scan your system.
