How to get windows 7 system tray date and time in windows xp and vista?
First of all, this tips and tutorial covers a freeware that you have to download and install. But if you do not want to download or install any third party software and still want to display date in system tray and taskbar of windows xp then i have a simple tips or solution for this. And that is as follows,
![]() 1. Just right click on the xp taskbar. 2. Then uncheck "Lock the Taskbar" option if it is already checked. 3. Now get your mouse cursor on the upper edge of the taskbar. You will see your mouse cursor changed into a up-down arrow and drag upward until the date and day of the week showed up, as you can see in the picture above. Let's come to the main topic of this post. The above tips does not require any software to install and very easy to do but you can not customize it and can not make it look like windows 7 clock and date. But this can be done by simply using a tiny software and before that just look at those pictures below, So, what are you thinking? Yeah this is possible. The name of that tiny but a bit old software is TClock. This is a portable application, so no need to install. By using this tiny software you can not only just make system tray clock of xp to look alike windows 7 but also add date and weekday using various format as well. And best thing about TClock is that it is a free software. These are the steps to follow: 1. First Click Here to download the application and extract the file using a zip software. 2. There you can see a file named "TClock.exe", just run it. 3. You can see that your system tray clock has changed. So right click on that and click "TClock Properties". 4. Now in the left side, under the "Clock" node, click on the "Format" option. 5. Then check the "12H" and "Customize format" field and enter following value into the text box under the customize format field, Code: hh:mm:ss tt \n ddd, dd mmm yyyy6. After that click on OK. 7. Now create a shortcut of the file "TClock.exe" and place it to "C:\Documents and Settings\*UserName*\Start Menu\Programs\Startup" folder to make it run on windows start-up. That's it. If you do not understand the attributes of the date format, here they are, d and dd means day ddd and dddd means day of the week m means month y means year tt is the AM/PM \n is a html command that means line break or new line Some example are as follows, dd-mm-yy will display 22-12-10 ddd-mmm-yyy will display Wed-Dec-2010 dddd-mmmm-yyyy will display Wednesday-December-2010 ddd dd-MM-yyyy will display Wed 22-Dec-2010 Cheers!
