How to fix a dead flash drive or pen drive
This is an old problem but still people are facing trouble to repair their dead flash drive. Well if windows detects that damaged pen drive then their is a hope of that being repaired. Anyway i have a 2GB pen drive and yesterday while i was working, my windows suddenly froze and my pen drive was connected. After restarting my pc, windows detects the pen drive but showing it is 0MB and it tries to format it but didn't work.
Then i google the problem and found a solution for this particular problem and here it is: 1. First visit and download HP Drive Key Boot Utility, then install. 2. Then run the software and select your flash drive under device menu. 3. Select the file system to format to (FAT, FAT32, NTFS) 4. Select the Quick Format option then click start. Well this HP Drive Key Boot Utility is for HP devices but it works with other flash media and also camera memory cards. But this solution will work if that pen drive is detectable by windows. Otherwise you can try using "USBDeview" freeware to uninstall usb devices, then restart the pc and if you are lucky windows will show "found new hardware" and you flash drive will be reinstalled. Then format that device using "HP Drive Key Boot Utility". But if you are unlucky then windows will not detect it then i am afraid, you have to replace the flash drive or buy a new one, sorry!
