How to Create Video Screenshots Using Media Player Classic

Many people ask me about how to create video screenshots using Windows Media Player Classic? Well it is really easy to do but needs a little setting things up. So lets begin.

First of all you need to check your windows media player classic whether its running perfectly or not. You can find it in "C:\Program Files\Media Player Classic". Though Windows XP do have it by default, if you want to use the updated version or want the version for Windows 7 then you can download windows media player classic here.

After you get settled with media player classic, run the player. Then open the video that you want to create screenshots of.

Then go to "View -> Options" and on the left menu click on Output under Playback. Click on "VMR9 (windowed)" under "DirectShow Video" section. Click OK. see below...



N.B. You must have atleast DirectX9b installed on you pc. And if you do not set VMR9 you might get "GetCurrentImage failed, hr = 8000ffff" error while you click on save thumbnail.

Now click on "File -> Save Thumbnails...". Here you can set number of rows and columns, the image format and the resolution.



Now open the saved image and you get something like this below. So that's it.
