Activate Windows XP without ever having to connect to Microsoft
This tutorial post is for those who have activated genuine windows XP license. Activation of windows operating system is an integer part. XP activation is needed to reduce software piracy. Microsoft offers three alternative ways to activate Windows XP via the Internet, through a modem or by phone. Of course there are other illegal ways to activate Windows XP. But that none of the above methods are discussed here in this post.

This post is mainly for you to show you easy and effortless way to re-activate your copy of Windows XP after a reinstall. This implies that you already have a genuine and activated Windows XP copy to begin with. Sometimes you need to format you hard drive or the XP partition then you have to reinstall XP all over again. But you do not need go online to Microsoft site, there is an offline alternative way to activate XP. By doing this you can save your time and labor.

All you have to do is just go to C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder before you decide to reinstall your XP or format your hard drive. Then navigate to System32 folder to find the files named "wpa.dbl" and "wpa.bak" and copy them to your USB drive or burn to a CD.

After this format the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP but do not activate operating system after install. Just restart and boot into SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Minimal, press F8 during boot in order to access the SafeMode options. Then again go to the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder and navigate to find those files named "wpa.dbl" and "wpa.bak". Since you already have the old files on your USB drive just rename these files to "wpadbl.new" and "wpabak.new" and copy the old "wpa.dbl" and "wpa.bak" files to System32 folder.

Windows XP product activation makes sure that each license is installed in accordance with the EULA and is not installed on more than the number of computers that the license permits. During activation Windows XP creates an unique installation identification (ID) that is based on information from the product ID and a hardware identifier that are created when you installed Windows XP. So to activate your XP open the Windows Product Activation wizard and provide the installation ID to Microsoft over the Internet or your phone line.

Microsoft said, "Product activation makes sure that each Windows XP license is installed in accordance with the EULA and is not installed on more than the number of computers that the license permits. Windows creates a unique installation identification (ID) that is based on information from the product ID and a hardware identifier that are created when you install Window XP. To activate, use the Windows Product Activation wizard to provide the installation ID to Microsoft over the Internet or your phone line. The installation ID records an association of the product ID to your computer and a confirmation ID is sent back to your computer to activate Windows XP. Activation is anonymous, and no personal information is required to activate".
